Danny Thomas, The Road to Lebanon

This 1965 Danny Thomas Special spoofed the “Road to” movie series starring Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. The story begins with Bing Crosby crooning the title tune in Hollywood, and then the scene moves to the Middle East where Danny Thomas is judging the Miss Lebanon Contest. Bing wants Danny to star with him in the next movie, and of course Hope intervenes with a different plan. Claudine Auger appears as a mis-named “Laurence of Lebanon,” and she too has a plan for Danny. The stars play out an evening of comedy, song and dance. Claudine Auger was included since she was fresh off 1965’s “Thunderball” as Bond Girl Domino Derval.
